One day about 20 years ago (phew times flies) I was reading a recipes out of a book my mom owned. I didn’t have brown sugar so my mom suggested I make my own. I have never bought brown sugar.

COOK TIME

Ingredients
- Sugar 1 cup (any kind)
- Molasses 1 Tablespoon
Steps
1-Choose how much brown sugar you want. Normally I fill bowl and just pour in an eyeballed amount of molasses. For this recipe Light brown sugar and to follow it exact just do 1 cup sugar and add 1 Tablespoon molasses. Dark brown sugar its 1cup/ 2 Tablespoon ratio.
2-Mix well with your hands (this is most effective and least dishes to wash. Yay)
3-Brown sugar is done when it is all the same color and there is no white sugar left.
4-Store in an airtight container. I use sugar fast so it never sticks around but at least 6 months it should be practically the same. After that it might start drying out depending on your storage. Just keep molasses and sugar on hand and you always have brown sugar within a few minutes for any recipe!
